I FEEL FOR THE PEOPLE OF HAITI BUT WE HAVE PEOPLE HERE IN THE US WHO NEED HELP TOO.

Vacant Land - 2 - $55,000, Florentine - 1 - $195,000, Greentrees - 1 - $120,000, Coast Village - 0 - $0, In-town - 8 - $204,063, Beach area - 2 - $372,500, North - 1 - $100,000, South - 2 - 280,000, East - 2 - $322,703, Condos - 0 - $0, Multi-family/Commercial/Business opp. - 1 - $65,000.

October - Properties for sale 746, reported sales 25, DOM 234.

November - Properties for sale 724, reported sales 19, DOM 183.

Hi everyone, here is the new sales update for the last 2 months. It has been a strange month for real estate here in Florence.

Just for your information and my curiousity here is the difference from last year:

Total Properties for sale in our area October 2008 = 746 - Total Properties for October this year 785 = 39 more listings.

Sales for October 2008 = 25 - Sales this year = 33 = 8 more sales

Average Days on the Market for October 2008 = 234 - this year 265 = 31 more days to sell.

I hate to spoil the report for you but this is pretty interesting to me so maybe it will interest you also.

October 2008 available bare land was 213 listings with an average listing price of $286,043.

Bare land sales were 2 with an average sale price of $99,000.

This year available bare land is 298 Listings with an average listing price of $286,043, a difference of $132,726.

Bare land sales last month were 4 with an average sale price of $66,875, a difference of $32,125.

So, here are just a few statistics taken from the old report and the new report which were compiled using data taken from the RMLS web site.

Hey, I know this doesn't have anything to do with real estate but I am so excited that I wanted to share this with everyone. Our local cinema here in Florence, Oregon closed a few months ago and it was looking bleak until someone from out of state came in and took over. The very nice guy that I talked to via email told me that he would have the special Midnight showing of New Moon on November 19th!!!!

So-- anyone out there in our area please come to the showing? Thanks and have a great month.

Over the last couple of weeks over 50 Humboldt squid have washed up on the local beaches. This is quite rare as these are usually found in California. This kind of squid is also called Red Devils or Jumbo Squid and can grow up to 7 feet long. (Taken from Siuslaw News newspaper, September 23rd issue).  So my husband went to the Heceta Beach, near Driftwood Shores and took this picture of one of these giant, dead creatures. He said the ones he saw were an average of about 4 foot long and they smelled really bad.

The other really cool part of the story (taken from Siuslaw News, September 30th issue) is that one of the squids was wrapped up in a partial US Marines jacket and the high school students used it to carry a well preserved specimen back to the school so they could study it. It turns out that the jacket belonged to a local ex-Marine who hadn't seen it for 6 years. Wow! That is a real strange coincindence.
